John has many years of business experience, and has a passion for business.
He holds a Bachelor of Business degree and initially practiced as a CPA for a number of years before being lured into the corporate sector where he had a successful career with significant Australian based public companies in senior management and executive positions and also as an international director with a European based multinational.
His interest in business continued after he left the corporate sector and he purchased a small business in which he saw considerable upside and potential and after developing that business, he successfully realized his investment by selling the business. Other opportunities became available and he invested in a venture which, despite all efforts to save it, went horribly bad and he suffered a financial loss.
He now draws from his business experience and knowledge to advise and assist small to medium enterprises (SME’s) and in helping others starting out on their business journey, advising on business development, profit improvement and growth strategies during the journey, and also assisting with the sale of a business when the journey is at an end.
His experience has enabled him to :
- know what it is like to initially start, then to nurture and grow and then eventually to sell a business. He has been there.
- understand that having your own business is never a “smooth highway to success” and that there will always be lots of challenges along the way. He has been there.
- know the satisfaction that comes from growing and achieving a successful and sustainable business and then being rewarded for all the efforts and sacrifices that were made along the way when the investment in the business is realized at the end of the journey. He has been there.
- know the financial devastation that comes from making a bad business decision and how quickly that can happen. And also the long road back to recovery. He has been there.
- know that you can’t be successful in business trying to do everything by yourself. You can’t start, grow and develop your business into the success that your want it to be without seeking and getting appropriate guidance, advise and input from others who have the knowledge and experience and who have done it before.
